BAC TO THE FUTURE \\v2.1 - MAP !!

Hi peolpes,
So .. ive got a map for everyone to checkout. This time instead of having all of the checkpoints on the map only 2 will be publicly known with the other 2 being given at each checkpoint. These 2 privately known spots will be on the hill or on pearl street, and will be given as an address' or street intersection.

This time around ive got some cool tasks planned out. Im not gonna say what they are, so be prepared ! I will say that a bag of some sort will help you.

This time around i will probably wont NEED any volunteers but i could use some help on race day if you want to chill out instead of race. Like i said a couple posts ago, all volunteers get the average or median race time and 4 sprint points.

Since I am organizing the privately known checkpoints, i will not be racing to keep everything fair. I also wont compete in tricks because i want to see what everyone else can throw down. So if your interested in tricks be prepared with trackstands and skids, or anything else you think is cool, and we will take a vote on who has the best trick.

Also new for this race and going forward everyone will be assigned a PERMANENT registration number. This will tie in with the new statistics application i am devloping. If you have a preference as to what number you want, think of a few and as long as they arent taken, you can have any 3 digit integer greater than 0. Like 123 or 666. Otherwise you will be assigned a number at my discretion.

The weather forecast says it might snow on fri(tomorrow) but will be sunny on saturday. So keep that in mind. Also sorry about the delay on statistics for the last race i should have something ready by race day. And going forward this wont be an issue anymore .

Ok thats everything, see yall on saturday !

Updates

I apologize for the delay on statistics, the current method i use to do them is very tedious. BUT, im developing an application that will be able to generate the race stats on the fly ! When i finish it, ill be able to email/print stats just minutes after the race is over !

\\v2.1 - Updates

So for this months race on Nov. 15th i would like to do a hill race, and im gonna try something new. This time instead of all the checkpoints being public, we will have 2 public and the rest private, so when you get to a publicly known checkpoint, you will get an address for a privately known spot. Im planning on having all of the checkpoints be on the hill area. So this time im not taking map submissions, BUT if you live on the hill or know someone who does and is willing to chill at their house and run a checkpoint then please EMAIL me the address. They would need to be available to run the checkpoint from 1:30 pm - 2:30pm on race day. I might be open to having some houses in the pearl area since they will be close to the start/finish. So if you wanna volunteer a spot, EMAIL me the address, do not post in comments.

BAC TO THE FUTURE \\v1.3 - Results + News

All in all it was a great race this past weekend. There were a couple of crashes, but luckily no one was hurt.

As for the results, Patrick Decker was the race winner. The overall winner was Peter Cook, holding onto his lead from the past two races. He also takes fastest brakeless fixed gear rider, and best young rider. Sprint classification stayed with Casey Temanson. King of the mountains went to Adam Mork (Me!), so did trix, cus like last time no one showed up.

Full Results will be posted soon !

NEWS: With this first round of races now complete, ive learned alot, and got alot of suggestions which have lead me to make some changes to the format.

- Race Winner now gets a SpokeCard
- All SpokeCards are going to be slightly smaller*
- Registration is 2$ for all races
- All volunteers get free registration in their next race, or for a friend**
* I can send image files to previous winners if they want the new sizes.
** If you volunteer in a race you automatically recieve the median or average race time (whichever is lower) for that race. You also recieve 4 Sprint points.

NEXT MONTHS RACE: Its going down November 15th. Same location, same time. (Folsom/Pearl ; 1:00 registration)

This race is the first in trilogy (set of 3 races). So everyone starts fresh. All finishing times and points will be cumalative.

Chances are that the conditions for next months race will be less than ideal...

SO GET THOSE WINTER BIKES READY !

OTHER NEWS: StreetTumblers is hosting their first race November 1st. They've got shirts, hoodies, and goodies for the winners !! Check out their blog for more information (streettumblers.blogspot.com).

BAC TO THE FUTURE Part III - Oct 18th \\v1.3 (Maps)

**** MORE UPDATES ****
Ive got a new map submission, which claims to take the best checkpoints from all the other maps, to make the greatest map submission to date. Ill let the readers decide, blogger wont let me change the existing poll, so i just created a new one with the only option being map #7.

7 ---- http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=101849223794411564403.0004593cf08d9022d208f

**** UPDATE ****
So im going to do a volunteer roll-call. If you already emailed me, show up early like 12:30, if you didnt, you can still volunteer, just email me (fm.produktions@gmail.com) or post a comment to this post.

Also i would like to enforce my new rule about classification leaders bringing a volunteer. That boils down to casey bringing atleast one volunteer (maybe ridge will do suckland) !!! And peter should also bring one.

Ok keep those votes coming im gonna end the poll in a couple of days !

****UPDATE ****

So the next race is almost here, and although im waiting on some map submissions, ive already got quite a few, so if you intended on submitting a map, do it ASAP !! (email to: fm.produktions@gmail.com)

My plan is to just post up the different maps and let people discuss which map/checkpoints they like. In the end ill be making the final decisions, and as usual the finalized checkpoints will be posted online a few days before the race !

UPDATE:

Below are the map links, listed in no particular order.

1 ---- http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=118274360652951137565.000458ebeb00d73dd30cd

Or, we have another option suggested by a reader.

6 ---- "i'm over north boulder, residential blows.

lets do an all hill&downtown route

followed by sprints down moorhead"

UPDATE: ---- map for #6 (not all of those checkpoints will be used, also please submit new ideas for option 6 if you feel like it)

BAC TO THE FUTURE - Sep 20th \\v1.2 (Checkpoints) (Updated)

.//Checkpoints Posted \\v1.2 (Updated)

Ive got the preliminary checkpoint locations figured out. Its gonna be a tour of south boulder, and unlike the last race this month features 5 checkpoints (its back to 5 now). This map was created by 'Peter' aka 'Cookie Monster' using the Google Maps application.

Its not final, but so far I like what i see. Its gonna be a longer race than last months so you may want to bring extra supplies (water, food, flat kit etc..).

As of right now its gonna be the same format as last months so check out this post which has the general race information. I may decide to include a checkpoint task (i.e. change out your tube before you get signed off) but im not 100% sure yet, so be prepared (you should be carrying this stuff anyways !).

Since this months race is gonna be alot longer than the first, almost everyone will have a chance to move up in the rankings. Figure out your routes, and maybe who youll wanna draft off of, because this month will determine the positioning going into the final race of the first trilogy !

.// Volunteers

For this months race i could really use a few volunteers, Ill probably be able to get 2-4 of my friends to help out, but that means ill still need 2-4 more people to help. If you know anyone who is reliable and is willing to run a checkpoint (its super easy, will pick up and drop off @ location) then let me know.

.// Google Maps

As mentioned above this months and last months checkpoints were created using Google Maps. This is a great way for me to see your ideas for checkpoint locations, or any other type of info pertaining to the race, like the route you might use, or after the race the route you ended up using. You can also add descriptions to the location markers, so if you have any specific info that pertains to only one location put it in the description (i.e. each racer has to chug a beer).

So if you've got ideas go ahead and make some maps. When you've got it the way you want you can grab the link to your map by clicking on the [Link] box in the upper right hand corner of the google maps window, this will display the link. Just copy and paste it in the comments section (it doesnt matter which post, ill find it) and ill take a look at it and tell you what I think. Also you can add me as a collaborator using my google account which is fm.produktions (fm.produktions@gmail.com).

There are alot of cool things you can do with google maps, most of which i know nothing about so if you find something useful please share it with me.

.// BAC part 3 (October \\v1.3)

The October race will be the final race in the first trilogy of BAC races (dont worry it wont be the last) so make sure you show up to this months so you can be in the running for trilogy winner. Since this month were gonna be doing the race in South Boulder, next month im thinking about doing the race in north boulder. So get those maps going !

BAC TO THE FUTURE Part II - Sept 20th (Flyers)

So i hope the mix up between the dates isnt going to be a big issue (Part II is going down on the 20th NOT the 19th). Ive updated my original post with the new date and a new flyer. Ive also created a 8.4" x 10.8" image file that has 4 flyers on it so you can print out your own. Also for consitency i plan on running each race on the 3rd saturday of each month.

For next month i havent decided the checkpoints yet, so right now im open to suggestions. If you think you got a good checkpoint location or idea for next month post in the comments section of this post

Also i dont know what the volunteer situation will be like. So if anyone wants to volunteer to run a checkpoint that would be greatly appreciated.

NEW EVENT NEXT MONTH - BEST TRICK, so practice those skids, barpsins, pogo's, and wheelies then come represent at 12:30 before the race starts ! NEW SPOKECARD CLASSIFICATION FOR THE WINNER !!!

Sunday, August 24, 2008

Ooops

So I mixed up the dates on the new flyer. I meant to have it on the 3rd Saturday of the month, but the 19th is a friday. So I would like to have it on the 20th instead of the 19th. I think what im gonna do is just show up on the 19th and tell everyone to show up on the 20th. Ill post up a new flyer later today with the correct dates.

Checkpoints have been adjusted

I moved around some of the checkpoints:

The pearl street one is now in the proper place, which is going to be at the top of a parking garage near Spruce and Broadway.

The KOM checkpoint has been moved from beach park to Sumac and Baseline (chataqua), to better represent the KOM classification.

The checkpoint at folsom and pearl is the same, and is finalized

The checkpoint on campus is still up in the air. It is currently at the engineering building, but WILL CHANGE. Check back Saturday morning for its final location.

Post Race Events:

Depending on the turnout i might host a post-race party, which will lead up to the ...

FREE Girl Talk show @ Farrand field from 6:00pm - 11:00pm.
